Tentang Saya (About Me)

Dr. Edi Munawar is Assistant Professor at Chemical Engineering Department of Syiah Kuala University. He was gained his doctoral degree from the Institute for Water Quality, Resource and Management of Vienna University of Technology. During his PhD program he was developed a numerical model to simulate the degradation of organic matter in municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill by taking account the influence of seasonal climatic condition (atmospheric temperature and precipitation rate) to the temperature, pH and moisture contents inside the MSW landfill as well as effect of these climatic condition to the degradation organic matter inside the MSW landfill. He also distinguished the degradation of organic matter into several categories (e.g. readily, slowly, hardly, and non-degradedly) to represent the heterogeneous organic matter of MSW. The degradation organic matter pathway also was classified into several stages under aerobic and anaerobic conditions depend upon the partial pressure of oxygen inside the landfill. His current research interests are modeling the degradation of organic matter in MSW under tropical climate condition in order to forecast the long-term landfill emissions.
