Tentang Saya (About Me)

Afnan is an assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of Universitas Syiah Kuala in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Prior to this, she served as an adjunct lecturer of Information and Decision Science in the College of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the US. Her journey in academia began with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November in Surabaya, Indonesia. Following this, she pursued a master’s degree in Management of Technology from the University of Melbourne in Australia, and another master’s degree in Computing from the University of Manchester in the UK. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Management Information Systems from UIC. Her research interests include health information technology, unintended consequences of technology use, healthcare social network, information sensitivity, and user satisfaction. She has received a number of scholarships and awards such as the Chevening scholarship from the UK government, the Fulbright scholarship from the US government, the Humanitarian Service Award from the office of Illinois Secretary of State, and the Chicago Consular Corps scholarship. She has presented her papers in conferences such as the Amaricas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). She’s also a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
