Ari Palawi S.Sn., M.A., Ph.D. is Asian Studies Program alumni of University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawai'i United States of America (2007-2010) while his bachelor degree focusing on Musicology was achieved from the Indonesia Institute of Arts Yogyakarta in 2000, he also learned the Classical Guitar as his major instrument. He accomplished his doctoral program in ethnomusicology at Monash University, Australia focusing on the Malay Music Culture of Urang Pulo in Kepuluan Banyak, West Coast Sumatra, Indonesia.
He lead the Center for the Arts of Syiah Kuala as a chairman since 2010. He is curently a chairman too at The Arts Education Department of Syiah Kuala University.
He has been teaching the music-culture subject in Syiah Kuala University of the Aceh Province, the place where he born, since 2003. He also founded the Center of the Arts in the University in 2010 and organized the second International Conference and Cultural Event (ICCE) of Aceh that held in Melbourne on September 2016 following the success of the first ICCE of Aceh of 2008 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
