Professional Summary
Prof. Dr. Vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. was born on 27 August 1970 in Samadua, South Aceh, Indonesia. He acquired a Vet’s degree in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (the only one Vet Faculty in Sumatra island) from the Syiah Kuala University in 1995. He also studied in other island of Indonesia, where he received his Master's degree in Veterinary Science from Bogor Agriculture Institutein 2003. He subsequently earned his PhD in Veterinary Science from the Bogor Agriculture Institute in 2007. He then embarked on his professional life. He now works in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University as lecturer and researcher.
Prof. Dr. Vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. has experience on research. His research activities focused on veterinary science, particularly host immunity and microbe parasite interrelationship. Together with his team, he has been won various competitively researchs in field of veterinary science either the financially supported by Ministry of Research and Technology or granted by Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia. He published several articles related to veterinary science in various scientific journals, in national and international seminar (please see his publications in the bellow). This year, he is conducting a research about biodiversity of cellulolytic bacteria in rumen of aceh cattle by mean of moleculer approach granted by Ministry of Research and Directorate General High Education Republic of Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. has gained some experience in leadership. He was a Vice Dean of Collaboration Affair during 2008 – 2012 in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University, an institution that covers 11 laboratories. During 2009 – 2011, he proposed, signed, and implemented a triparted collaboration of the memorandum of understanding between Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Syiah Kuala University and Faculty of Vetsuisse of Zurich University and facilitated by the PanEco foundation. Its goal was to improve knowledge, skills capability and network by mean of veterinarian training in Zurich Zoo, and sabatical program to promote wildlife animals in the world. He was also participated in a Meeting Committee in Yogyakarta for South East Asia Veterinary School Association (SEAVSA), is a network ofveterinary faculty in South East Asia in 2012. His experience as a Vice Dean put him in good networking and this allows him to have an outstanding negotiation skills. His academic activities and experience lead Prof. Dr. Vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. to have good working relationship with various levels of governments; national and international level, including traditional communities at district and provincial level. He also has excellent oral and communication skills in Acehnese, Minang, and Bahasa Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. has organizational skills and able to prioritize and perform a wide variety of tasks. He is able to work independently and deadline oriented. In 2013, he play a role as editor in chief in proceedings of the 3rd Annual International Conference Syiah Kuala University (AIC Unsyiah) in Conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research (ICMR). He is a reviewer for institutional research proposal, and also an auditor for academic quality warranties in Syiah Kuala University. In addition, he is a member of Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association, and Indonesian Society for Microbiology.
Prof. Dr. Vet. Darmawi, M. Vet. has recieved several honours. He recieved the 10 Years Satyalancana Karya Satya, mark of honour from Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the President of Republic of Indonesia in 2012. He also won the first best 2012 in Scientific Paper Award from Med. Pet. Journal of Animal Science and Technology, Bogor Agriculture Institute. In 2011, he honoured the 2nd best lecturer in Syiah Kuala University. Previously, he won the first best researcher of Syiah Kuala University, and he also became as the best presenter in National Seminar held by Mataram University in 2009.
