Darusman, director of graduate school, Syiah Kuala University (SKU) (2014-2018) graduated Bachelor degree at College of agriculture SKU in 1986 majored in Soil Science. In 1988 till 1994 pursued advanced degree at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, USA and obtained master degree in 1990 and Ph.D 1994 in field of soil physics, and soil water managament accordingly. He ultimately earned Full professor in 01 April 2003.

Interested research focused are on Agricultural irrigations, physical properties of soil, land remediation as well as climate changes affecting crop productivity. During his career, he devoted most of his time in campus and and sometimes off-campus, if requested. During his carrier in campus, he experienced in being as a head of department of soil science, head of study program of Land Natural Resources (master degree), director and vice director of graduate school, and Vice Rector of Syiah Kuala University. In addition to those, he has ever acted as a program officer of UNDP –Aceh, UN-FAO North Maluku, and currently being as a member of UN-SDSN and other national and international agencies. Currently he is serving his time as a director of graduate school and one of oversight committees for Tropical Forest Conservation Act –Sumatra. Training and other similar seminars are also a part of his routine activities. Some University trainings done by Kentucky University in Lexington, governance and management University done by CHEPS-University Twente in Enschede, Netherland and Mevlana Kaliitim Bergium Fellowship for lecture exchange in Sparta, Turkey were also a part of his experiences. Currently, he is collaborating with 4 universities i.e Ghen University, Belgium, Gajahmada University, Udayana univesity, and Andalas university working on multi years project called "Bamboo for Biochar: an Oppotunity for scientific, societal and environmental change in Indonesia (BamBindo) starting from 2019-2021.
