Dedi Fazriansyah Putra is an Associate Professor and researcher at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Fisheries from the Fisheries University of Jakarta and his master’s degree in Aquaculture from the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. He later pursued doctoral studies in Aquaculture at the National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU), Taiwan, and completed his Doctorate in Fisheries Sciences (Aquaculture) at Universitas Syiah Kuala, Indonesia. In recognition of his professional achievements, Dedi was awarded the professional title of Engineer (Ir.) by the Professional Engineering Program at Universitas Syiah Kuala in 2024, followed by the designation of Professional Engineer of Middle Level (Insinyur Profesional Madya/IPM) from the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII) in the same year. In 2025, he was further honored as an ASEAN Engineer (ASEAN Eng.) by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO). In addition, he holds a professional competency certificate as an Aquaculture Expert (Ahli Budidaya Perikanan) issued by the National Professional Certification Agency of Indonesia (BNSP RI), and serves as a Certified Competency Assessor at the Professional Certification Institute for Marine and Fisheries (LSP KP).
Dedi has authored and co-authored numerous international scientific publications in reputable Scopus-indexed (Q1–Q2) and Web of Science journals, including collaborative research with the National Taiwan Ocean University, Guangxi Academy of Sciences, China and East China Normal University (ECNU) Shanghai, Russia Academy of Sciences, UMT Malaysia, University Al-Bahri Sudan, Politeknik Jeli Kelantan Malaysia, and UNISZA Malaysia. His scientific interests and expertise span aquaculture research, shrimp bio-ecology and biodiversity, fish and shellfish immunology, and coastal and fisheries science. He contributes actively to the scientific community as a journal editor and reviewer for multiple aquaculture-related journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (Aquaculture, Fish and Selfish Immunology etc). He actively enhanced his experience through ongoing participation in national and international trainings and short courses, including Technical workshop on Indonesian election in Tokyo, Japan 2014, Training for overseas election committee in Seoul, South Korea 2014, and Inauguration of overseas election in Hongkong, China 2013. moreover, He is frequently invited as an international speaker and expert, sharing his knowledge on aquaculture technologies, aquatic animal health, and sustainable fisheries management in various scientific conferences, workshops, and professional forums, including the International Training on Jellyfish Identification, Marine Center, Phuket, Thailand 2016, International Training on Crustacean Taxonomy, Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Jakarta-2017, WESTPAC Training Workshop on Ciguatoxin Detection in Fish, Nha Trang, Vietnam-2018, Visiting Scientist, Guangxi Academy of Sciences, China 2019–2020. In 2025, he represented Indonesia as an invited expert and speaker at several prestigious international events: the 4th Mega Delta Meeting in Shanghai, China, Workshop on Regional Crab Bank Development, Ramsar Center Japan (RCJ), Chantaburi Province, Thailand and the Malaysian Crab Workshop in Malaysia.
Dedi’s work has earned several distinctions, including the Best Presenter Award at the 1st International Conference on Fisheries, Aquatic, and Environmental Sciences (ICFAES), Indonesia (2018) and the Young Talented Award from the Guangxi Academy of Sciences, China (2019) and He was also recognized as an Outstanding Scientist (Ilmuwan Berprestasi) 2025 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek) through Universitas Syiah Kuala, and was invited to join the Convention of Science, Technology, and Industry Indonesia at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Beyond his academic contributions, Dedi remains active in several professional organizations, including the Indonesian Aquaculture Society (MAI), the Institution of Engineers Indonesia (PII), the Indonesian Researchers Association (PPI), the Indonesian Association of Professional Assessors (IASPRO), and the Traditional Fishermen Union of Indonesia (KNTI).
