Dr. Ichsan is a family physician, a researcher, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. He currently serves as the Chair of the Aceh Chapter of the Indonesian Society of Family Medicine Specialists (PDSKKI), and holds positions within the Indonesian College of Family Medicine as well as the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) for the Aceh region. Dr. Ichsan is also appointed as an Advisory Board Member at the Besrour Centre for Global Family Medicine, Canada.
After completing his Master’s degree at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 2009, Dr. Ichsan obtained his Family Medicine Specialist qualification (Sp.KKLP) in 2020, followed by subspecialty certification in Family Oriented Medical Care (Subsp. FOMC) in 2022. He subsequently completed his doctoral degree in Medical Sciences at Universitas Syiah Kuala.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ichsan has held several key leadership roles, including serving as the Head of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala. He has also been actively involved in disaster management initiatives in Aceh, and since 2021, he has been entrusted as the Head of Health Crisis and Community Preparedness at the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC USK).
Dr. Ichsan is actively involved in establishing global academic partnerships, including collaborations with the Besrour Centre for Global Family Medicine, as well as higher education institutions in Canada and Germany. He is also actively engaged in research within the Medical Research Unit at Universitas Syiah Kuala and participates in two research peer groups.
His research interests encompass infectious diseases, microbiology, family medicine, and public health. Dr. Ichsan is a frequent speaker at international conferences in countries such as Germany, Canada, Japan, and the United States. During his research career, he has successfully secured multiple research grants from international institutions, including the United States Agency for International Development, World Health Organization, McMaster University, German Academic Exchange Service, and the Center for Global Health Equity.
