Associate Profesor, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala
Marty Mawarpury has been a member of the Psychology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala since 2008. She completed her doctoral degree at the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2017, having earlier obtained her Master of Psychology–Profession (M.Psi) with a concentration in clinical psychology from the same university.
With over 15 years of experience in mental health and psychological disorders, alongside a background in human resource development, her research spans three interconnected domains: health, social psychology, and the intersection of psychology with engineering and technology — an increasingly distinctive part of her portfolio, exemplified by her co-authored review in IEEE Access on deep learning–based emotion recognition through thermotherapy in academic settings.
Supervision & Mentoring
She actively supervises students across all levels of study — undergraduate (S1), master's (S2), and doctoral (S3) — guiding research proposals, theses, and dissertations in clinical, health, social, and technology-oriented psychology.
Research & Publication Record
Her work has been cited over 950 times on Google Scholar. On the health side, her research covers mental health services at puskesmas, depression among post-abortion and post-stroke patients, caregiver burden in schizophrenia, and burnout among healthcare workers during COVID-19. On the social side, she has studied family resilience in conflict-affected regions, disaster preparedness rooted in Acehnese local wisdom, intercultural resilience among international students, and community well-being. Her technology-facing work includes studies on nomophobia and problematic smartphone use across generations, parental phubbing among adolescents, e-learning evaluation, and the IEEE Access review on emotion-recognition technology. She has also authored several books, including Kesehatan Mental, Kesehatan Masyarakat: Tinjauan Sosial Budaya, and Tinjauan Pandemi COVID-19 dalam Psikologi Perkembangan (Syiah Kuala University Press). In 2025, she co-produced two copyrighted learning modules: Transformasi Pembelajaran Dosen and #GenMaaf – Penguatan Karakter Maaf untuk Generasi Muda.
