Current studies: Evaluation of heavy metals in aquatic organism results by Gold mining in Geumpang District. Geumpang River has increased anthropogenic activity, among others, to the extraction of gold metal by unlicensed gold miners (PETI). The use of mercury metals has been widely known and used by PETI in gold ore extraction. The water from the extraction of gold ore still contain relatively high mercury metals, so it will pollute the river and the nature of aquatic biota. The existence of such activity may disrupt the ecological balance of aquatic biota present in it and human health. Pollution caused by the use of mercury to obtain gold is a problem of concern. Mercury (Hg) is a heavy metal group that is very harmful to human health and environmental damage. The mercury used by miners to coagulate gold grains to separate from the soil. The mercury of the processing is thrown away at the mountains and flows into the River Geumpang and several other small rivers.
