Munawar is a Head of Master Statististics Program at the Statistics Department of Mathematics and Sciences Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh since 2025. He has worked for various institutions, agencies, and companies, including Unilever Indonesia and UNIFEM (now UN Women), holding multiple positions. He completed his Research Methodology (now Research Methodology and Data Analytics) PhD Program at the Mathematics and Computer Science Department, Science and Technology Faculty, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani campus, Thailand. The advisors were Assoc. Prof. Dr Rhysa McNeil, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rohana Jani and Prof. Dr Don McNeil. Munawar is an Aceh Government scholar with a master's degree in Applied Statistics from the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He did his B.Sc in Mathematics at the Mathematics Department of the Mathematics and Sciences Faculty, Syiah Kuala University.

Research interests: Biostatistics, Demography, Econometrics, and statistical methods. As a statistics trainer, he works with r and statistical the package like SPSS, SAS, S-Plus, Minitab, E-view, etc.
