Research: Modeling, Simulation and Optimal Control
I graduated my B.SC in Mathematics at ITS Surabaya in 1993, graduated my M.Eng.Sc in Control Engineering in 2000, and graduated my PhD in Computational Optimal Control at UWA-Australia under supervision of Prof Leslie S. Jennings. Currently pursuing my research in computational optimal control at Syiah Kuala University, and also as the Head of Master Programme in Mathematics.
Graduated Bachelor in 1994 , I was directly involved in the research funded by HEDS - USAID about the application of Partial Differential Equation on Numerical simulation of air pollution in industrial areas around the North Aceh . This research has mapped the distribution of air pollution around the industrial area of North Aceh using boundary conditions of pollutants released by large factories across the region with an implicit numerical scheme .
I have also published the results of my research in an international conference in Kuala Lumpur WREC'99. Two results of my research (1 first author, first author of the three) have been published in a prestigious international conference that is IEEE TENCON 2000. The results are based on a search of IEEE publications also have gained 8 citations from other writers as reference writing to the problem of modeling and control. The publication presents the results of my research on approaches to modeling and control systems by combining the conventional approach and intelligent methods to be used in nonlinear systems that have fast response time (high speed response) as the control system of the combustion engine vehicles. Another publication presents the results of my research on the use of fuzzy control method for controlling the water tank system.
During my PhD programme, the results of my research has also been published in the Australian Journal ANZIAM in the field of application of mathematics, as well in conferences regionally and internationally. Publications during PhD is generally associated with the use of optimal control for the purposes of calculation and data smoothing mechanics and biomechanics. After completion of my PhD in 2007, together with our colleagues have also managed to get grants both from BRR and competitive grants. From the years 2007-2009, some of the results of my research has been presented and published in several national conferences, regional and international, including: RCMSA 2007, ICMSA 2008, and 2009. In RCMSA 2007, I present the research findings of the assessment of wave propagation and wave amplitude reduction rate if constructed breakwater is submerged in water. For ICMSA 2008, I examine the use of a penalty for differences trajectory in order to acquire control variables on biomechanical system. While in ICONES 2009, I describe the results of preliminary research to assess the fish population control through maximizing harvest fish while keeping the population is above the level of a certain population size.
My scientific works today and the future is more focused on the use of optimal control method with the help of computing / software development to resolve issues of immediate development needs. Among them is to control fishing as I presented in ICONES 2009, also for controlling the calculation of economic indicators in optimal conditions such as inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates. Currently there is also a research collaboration with the Department of Transportation Aceh for optimization of parking in the city of Banda Aceh. There are also results on the simulation of earthquake and tsunami evacuation using traffic equation that soon will be published.
