Sufandi Iswanto is a lecturer at Department of History Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Syiah Kuala University (USK). Born in Aceh Tengah in 1989. He graduated from MTsN Janarata in Bener Meriah Regency and MAN Janarata in Bener Meriah Regency. In 2007 he graduated from Department of Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University but due to health factors, he could not continue. In 2008, through SNMPTN he was accepted into Department of History Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, USK. Then he continued in the Master of History Education Study Program at Sebelas Maret University (UNS). The title of his undergraduate thesis is "Development of Gayo Kerawang in Central Aceh District, 1904-2012" and the title of his thesis is "Development of Teaching Materials Based on Sulam Kerawang Gayo Values to Improve Character Values of State High School Students in Bener Meriah Regency". Currently he is also active as a member of MSI Aceh Branch. The focus of his research is on Gayo Culture and History, especially during the Dutch Colonial period. As for the research that has been done on (1) the history of coffee plantations in Gayo Land during the Dutch colonial period; (2) Exploitation of the Pine Merkusi Forest in Gayo Land; (3) Infrastructure of the City of Takengon during the Dutch Colonial Period; (4) Sulam Kerawang Gayo; and (5) Minang Tribe Migration to Gayo Land.
