Professional Summary
Dr. Syahrul Purnawan, S.Pi., M.Si. earned his Bachelor's degree in Marine Science and Technology from IPB University in 2006, followed by a Master's degree in Marine Science from the same institution in 2009. He earned his Doctoral degree in Marine Technology from IPB University in 2025, with research focusing on the application of hydroacoustic techniques for benthic habitat modeling, particularly single-beam echosounder applications for benthic habitat classification and demersal fish distribution modeling.
Since 2009, he has served as a Lecturer in the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Universitas Syiah Kuala. His current research interests include fisheries acoustics, hydroacoustic technology, benthic habitat mapping, demersal fish distribution modeling, and fish target strength analysis. He has authored numerous scientific publications, which are available through his Google Scholar and ResearchGate profiles.
