Tentang Saya (About Me)

Professor in Hydraulic Engineering and a lecturer at Civil Engineering Department, Major in Coastal Engineering. A Doctoral Degree holder graduated from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. Master Degree was obtained from University of Science Malaysia, majoring in Coastal Environmental Modelling. Presently, He is also Director of Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) of Universitas Syiah Kuala since October 2021 until now.

His research focuses are coastal engineering, numerical modelling for coastal area, tsunami modelling and disaster preparedness. Dr. Syamsidik has been involved in a number of regional research activities, such as Strengthening Resilience of Coastal and Small Islands Communities towards Hydro-meteorological Hazards and Impacts of Climate Change (StResCOM), funded by UNESCO-Japan Funds-in Trust, Partnership of Enhanced Engagement in Researches (PEER) sponsored by USAID-National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicines (NASEM) of United States (Cycles 3 and 5). Currently, He is a principal investigator for a research in the topic of Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance for Indonesia, funded by LPDP of Ministry of Finance of Indonesia.



Recently, is developing a numerical simulations on tsunami waves impacts on coastal areas. A number of numerical models are used, i.e. Cornell Multi-grid Coupled Tsunami Modell (COMCOT), DUALSPHysic, TUNAMI N2, and OpenFOAM v3.0+. 



Beside the academic activities, there are a number of community activities were/are held. Among those activities he is routinely involed are Coastal Cleaning (Clean-Up) and Coastal Retreat. The two activities are aimed at bringing larger youth communities to be concerned about coastal conservation and coastal ecological preservations, as well as proper documentations of the coasts.

Guru Besar pada Bidang Hidroteknik, Jurusan Teknik Sipil Unsyiah, menyelesaikan pendidikan Doctoral (S3) pada Coastal Engineering di Toyohashi University of Technology. S2 pada bidang Coastal Environmental Modelling di Universiti Sains Malaysia, dan S1 pada Jurusan Teknik Sipil Unsyiah.Melakukan penelitian pada fokus tsunami dan erosi pantai. Sejak September tahun 2021 menjabat juga sebagai Ketua pada Pusat Riset Tsunami dan Mitigasi Bencana (Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center/TDMRC) Universitas Syiah Kuala.  Saat ini juga merangkap sebagai Koordinator Divisi Riset Tsunami di TDMRC Universitas Syiah Kuala.
