Afdhal (Afdhal Azmi) is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK). He received a bachelor's degree in Computer System Engineering (S.T.) from Department of Electrical Engineering, USK, Indonesia in 2003. He earned master's degree (M.Sc.) in Distributed Computing and Networks from the School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in 2013. He completed his Doctoral degree (Dr.) in Computer Engineering at the School of Engineering, USK, Indonesia, in 2024. He served as the Head of the Undergraduate (S1) Computer Engineering Study Program from 2015 to 2021. From 2022 to 2023, he was the Head of the Telematics Research Center (TRC). Since 2024, he has been the Head of the High Performance Computing (HPC) Laboratory at USK. His research interests include Data Communication and Computer Networking, Deep Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Internet of Vehicles (IoV), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Vehicular Communication. He has received several research grants, including Institutional National Strategic Research Grants, and Applied Research Grants from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Afdhal is a professional member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE SMC) Society Indonesia Chapter, Internet Society (ISOC), and International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He was appointed as General Co-chair for several international conferences, including IEEE ICELTICs 2017, IEEE ICELTICs 2018, IEEE CYBERNETICSCOM 2019, IEEE IC-COSITE 2021 and 2023. He also served as Vice Chair and Chair of the IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group for the IEEE Indonesia Section from 2020 to 2023. Currently, he is an active committee member of the Membership Development for the Western Region of the IEEE Indonesia Section.
